05. What maintenance does a reader require?
A Biometric reader is almost maintenance-free. Readers come in a sealed splash-proof box. Fingerprint ridges and valleys are shown in the reader in such a way that inorganic matter between "cracks" cannot be seen in the reader.
06. Our personnel’s jobs entail too much grease and their fingers are very greasy, will they be able to check in under such circumstances?
YES, because the more greasy fingerprints are, the better reading you will get. If a reader is completely clean and an individual comes to check in with clean and dry hands, their fingerprint may not be accurately detected and may be rejected. So we recommend to repeat the registration procedure, but before putting your finger on the reader, we suggest that you rub your finger tip against your forehead so that more natural grease is provided, and a more efficient registration is obtained.
07. How long does it take to get a fingerprint authenticated?
Once the reader has captured the picture, the fingerprint verification time is less than 1 second.
08. Does it take longer than using a code-bar ID card or a proximity card?
No, it takes the same time, but in this case it is neccesary to make a special note. Using code-bar ID, magnetic-tape, intelligent-chip, or proximity cards is just the SIMPLE CAPTURE of a number. Personnel registration using their fingerprints is not just entering a number but the identification of an individual entering such number. The registration time is the time it takes to check identity. An individual who has used the terminal for a week is validated in less than 1 second.
